Milk, Sugar and little bit of coffee powder makes a delicious and hot coffee. The coffee becomes much more tastier when you have a very good partner, with whom you can have coffee with. I always like to have coffee with some company rather than drinking alone. Drinking coffee is a beautiful time you get in a busy day schedule.  I almost consider it equal to Yoga or doing meditation. But also beware of your coffee partner otherwise it becomes the horror moment in a day. There are few good tips for a good and relieving coffee time:

1) Choosing a good brand of coffee, otherwise we may have to spend the rest of the day at restrooms :).

2) Choosing a good and reliable friend / husband/ lover , the character requirement will be discussed later in this blog.

3) Good ambience, where you will be motivated to talk without any eavesdropping taking place around.

4) Good snack ( Fat or fat free or carb free or whatever free, that depends on your requirement).

Why to think so much for drinking a cup of coffee? If you had this question in your mind already, it means that you have missed the greatest fun in life, of drinking coffee with a company.  I would say when I have a friend , I would like to make a good cup of coffee or tea depending on the interest of others. Sit down on the table, grab some snacks , take a sip and visualize the coffee going down through my food pipe. I don’t know if this is true. As the coffee passes down my throat and before reaching my tummy, on the way it tickles my heart and says ” Hey buddy its your time!!”. My heart immediately thinks what all happened from today morning, do i have anything to say and so on. Then my brain gives signals to my mouth and it starts pouring out. The things may start from my daughter  shifts to my husband , my work at home , other problems, confusions I have and so many other things which I have been mulling over  and over again. Thus a single drop of coffee makes me to talk about so many things. So imagine what a full cup of coffee would do. It does so many things even before you realize. It makes you to talk, there by making your heart lighter, it makes you to laugh  over nothing , it makes you feel light and gives lot of energy to carry the rest of the day’s work.  But this all will happen only when you have a good company. Lets take few charachters we see around:

1) I know of few people who will just drink from the cup like “:Rrrrrrrrrrr.. cham cham… rrrrrrrrrrrr… cham cham.. “, this will demotivate you. You will feel when that dirty sound is going to stop. 🙂 They will not open their mouth until the last bit of coffee is done. Then they will look at you, by then you may some times see a drop of blood from your ear.”The end!!”.

2) There are few others, who will start talking and keep talking and keep on talking, without giving a chance for you to talk. This time coffee drinking will be a tiresome job, as you have already loads in your heart and a few extra load added to you.

3) Few others will not open their mouth , but just say “Hmm..mm.. rrrrrrrr .. Hmm.. mmm…rrrrrrrrrrr”. I hope now you got the sound of rrrrrrrrr.. This time also you will be very tired as you have been talking all through the time, with no response from other end.

4) There are few , who is very perfect for spending the coffee time. Who will listen to you when you talk and who will talk when you listen. But, when they have coffee with others they will tell them what all you told them. This is called ” Coffee Gossips”. So beware of them!!!

So what kind of partner you really  need, you need someone who talks when you listen and who listens when you talk and who is reliable.  What ever talked over coffee should last longer until the cup gets empty. But make sure you don’t make any agreement with them. Then it will last longer only over a cup of coffee!! For example, I asked my husband I need some gold jewelry. He drank his coffee  and gave the cup to me and said , ” The coffee is over!! Now i don’t remember what we spoke while drinking coffee!!”.

A cup of coffee is a poetic moment which we get each day. Choose a good location, good partner it will be divine.

After reading this blog , if you think of skipping drinking coffee, that would be the best suggestion I would give. Don’t waste time “OVER A CUP OF COFFEE!”

How did I know Ganapathy Subraniyam Iyer and Papanasam Shivan.. Here comes the answer.

Initially I knew Papanasam Shivan as a very famous writer who has written more than 2000 songs and he is also called as “tamil thyagarajar”. Few of his famous songs are ” Enna thavam Seidhanai”, ” Kaa vaa vaa”, ” Saravana bhava ennum”, ” Maa Ramanan”, ” Gajavandhana Karuna”, ” Mooladhara Moorthy”, and so many others. Each and every song  has a separate emotion and the singer will automatically deliver those  without fail, while singing those songs. As a follower of carnatic music, I was happy enjoying all of his songs till now. But recently I got a great information about papanasam shivan, which I thought would share through this blog.

Ganapathy Subramaniyam Iyer is my great grand father. His native place is Polagam near Tiruvarur district, which is my mother’s birth place too. This is the first knot with papnasam shivan, as he was also living in Polagam for a greater period of his life. My great grand father and great grand mother ” Paarvathi” were living in Polagam. In this way they were actually close friend of Papanasam shivan. In fact my grand  mother told me that Papnasam shivan stayed in our house for about 6 months.  He has left back one of his green colour suitcase ( also called trunk) , which is still there at our house. My grandmother used to refer it to as ” Green trunk given by Shivan”. My grand mother, Mrs. Jayalakshmi Jayaraman also called as Pattama,  was always in praises about papanasham shivan. She used to tell to me that, she had seen him writing songs sitting outside the house.

Its nice to know that in one way or the other we knew such a great writer personally. I’m elated to know that my great grand parents had a connection with such a great scholar. So in a way I’m proud of them, lifting my collars saying we knew papanasam shivan personally :).

1) My grandmother lived in a village with no or minimal facilities, but have never complained about anything. I live in a city with almost all the facilities, but keep complaining about something or the other.

2) My grandmother did not study much, but was wiser and took beautiful decisions in life. I studied to some extent , but stumble for taking basic decisions or sit with graphs and charts analysing the  strategy.

3) My grandmother had many children and fed them all equally and they all grew up happily. I just have one kid, but analyse on the budgets and make a mess in the name of planning.

4) She had less dreams and enjoyed her life, achieved few. I have lots of dreams, have lot of opportunities, but hardly achieve anything.

5) She did not have help of technology at her kitchen, but her cooking was splendid. I have so many gadgets and instant mixtures , but not quite tasteful as hers.

6) She had lots of work at house from cleaning, cooking , maintaining cows, sheep etc.. but never complained of over loaded. I hardly have work at home part from easy cooking and vaccum cleaning , no pets, but I do complain for a lot of work and take rest.

7) She was hail and hearty at her seventies just complaining about knee pain once in a while. I just in my twenties and complain a lot about body pain.

8) She used to eat everything immaterial of what it was made of, but enjoyed the food heartily. But I look at ingredients, calculate calories, looking for low fat and finally end up eating rubbish.

9) She used totally natural products for bathing and hair washing, she have never stepped beauty parlour, but she was beautiful, really beautiful. I use lot of  chemical products, even spend 1000’s for getting natural products, pay tax to beauticians, but I don’t think I’m more beautiful than my grand mother with all artificially added products.

I’m sitting at home on a Saturday without stepping out afraid of swine flu and writing this blog, I think of my grand mother, I bet she would have never heard of anything called swine flu and she would not have bothered much about it. She is such a strong lady.
